On 12 April, the total number of UK deaths from coronavirus stood at 127,087. This was the highest in Europe.
(Monday) 12 April - Government data reported that up to 11 April there had been 127,087 deaths (within 28 days of first positive test) due to Covid-19. 13 April - England moved from Step 1 to Step 2 on Monday 12 April. Shopping areas were busy (with minimal "social-distancing") and pubs and bars opened for outdoor service only - BBC News Covid Lockdown eases: England 'buzzing' after first night out in 97 days. It remains to be seen whether the easing of coronavirus restrictions results in a significant rise in infections. Internationally, there are serious concerns regarding Brazil and India. Brazil is included in the UK's "red list" for international travel but India is not.

The number of new positive tests for the period 5 May to 11 May is an increase on the previous 7 day period (28 April to 4 May).
