In the Zagreb situation, aircraft were instructed to change codes as they climbed from lower to middle to upper sectors.ObiterJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04544226917595022902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6110794854146484721.post-15950441781118429562013-08-13T08:11:32.040+01:002013-08-13T08:11:32.040+01:00The Zagreb air traffic controller (Gradimir Tasic)...The Zagreb air traffic controller (Gradimir Tasic) was imprisoned. An interesting article on this is as Flight International 3rd March 1979. Aviation lawyer Richard Weston argued that punishing Tasic in that way did not assist aviation safety in any way. I think that, in all the circumstances of Zagreb, Weston was absolutely right.ObiterJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04544226917595022902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6110794854146484721.post-61246716375816246152013-08-13T07:58:12.255+01:002013-08-13T07:58:12.255+01:00Your comment took me back to the mid air collision...Your comment took me back to the mid air collision at Zagreb in 1976 where there was an issue with language and the air traffic controller reverting (under pressure) to his own native Serbo-Croat language. See Wikpedia for information about this accident.ObiterJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04544226917595022902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6110794854146484721.post-53266732753224012722013-08-13T07:54:25.617+01:002013-08-13T07:54:25.617+01:00Aviation language is a big issue albeit a very dif...Aviation language is a big issue albeit a very different topic to that in this post. Europe has a vast number of authorities, and despite the requirement for air traffic control to use English, there are many different languages used for communication from and to aircraft. That is a recipe for trouble. Bystander https://www.blogger.com/profile/10211688955428527960noreply@blogger.com
